Scripture and Prayer
Philippians 4:6 - “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Dear Lord... We ask that you bless the upcoming Prayer Life Seminar on June 5th. May it be a blessing to everyone at St. Peter’s and the community. We specifically pray that you allow many of our members and friends of the community to attend this special event. We also ask that through this seminar we would all be drawn into a closer walk with you through our prayer life. In Jesus we pray, Amen.
Outreach Seminar - August 28th
We will be hosting an outreach Seminar at St. Peter&rquo;s titled “Share Life” on Saturday August 28th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The seminar will help all members learn how to “Share their Life” with others. It focuses on how to use your unique gifts in sharing Jesus with others.
Rally Day - September 12th
We will end our worship summer schedule and start our fall worship with this special Sunday - Rally Day Sunday. We will still have one combined worship service. More details will follow.
Celebrate Recovery Meetings
Celebrate Recovery meetings are similar to those of other twelve-step programs, one difference is in their focus on Christianity. The program stresses that there is no other Higher Power except for Jesus. Another difference is that Celebrate Recovery does not require one to conform to a singleness of purpose declaration, a member does not have to qualify oneself as an alcoholic, addict, or gambler - there are no requirements for membership. You may attend with a desire to work the steps for healing with any number of hurts, hang-ups or habits (compulsive behaviors).
Fellowship for healing began Wednesday, May 5, 2010. The meeting starts promptly at 6:30 pm and ends at 8:00 p.m. Recovery meetings is held at: Zion Lutheran Church, 2062 East 30th Street, Cleveland. Further information can be answered by contacting Rev. Jim Weist at 216-561-2511 or by email OR Rev. Jeff Johnson at 216-281-1700 or by email.
The Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Ministry will be held every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. If you have a prayer request, please let us know. For those of you worshipping with us, we encourage you to include it on the response card from the pew tray, anonymously if you prefer, and place it in the offering plate. You can also e-mail your request. Each Wednesday we place these requests before God’s “throne of grace.” (Hebrews 4:16) and you are invited to share in this powerful and life-changing ministry. All prayers are kept in confidence.
Nursing Home Ministry
St. Peter’s Nursing Home Worship Group visits The Beachwood Pointe Care Center. the first Sunday of every month at 2:00 p.m. and lasts about 20 minutes. Join us any time as we bring scripture, a message and hymn singing to these nursing home residents. Beachwood Pointe is located at 23900 Chagrin Blvd, diagonally across the street from Pavilion Mall (about two miles from St. Peter’s).
Two Programs For Recylcing
For recycling aluminum cans, the Junior High Group is sponsoring an aluminum cans recycling drive for Burned Children. It will benefit the Burn Unit at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. There are cardboard containers on the lower level inside the church and by the coffee bar in the Great Room. As for paper recycling, Abitibi will be placing a green and yellow container by the Winslow exit. We will also place boxes inside the church for your used paper. Go green! Recycle!
St. Peter’s Anniversary (1883 - 2008)
In Thanksgiving to God for all the blessings given to our congregation, we celebrated our 125 anniversary of the founding of St. Peter’s through a series of events. These special events started with Rally Day, September 7th. This was followed by Tonya Baker Gospel Concert on October 11th with a dessert buffet after the concert. We ended our celebrations with a special Worship Service and Dinner on November 9th. Click on the link for more details.
Five Year Plan for St. Peter's
At the June 2008 Voters’ Meeting, a new Five Year Plan was proposed. What does this mean ? It means that God is truly moving among St. Peter's. We have a great responsibility to “Embrace the world around us with the love of Jesus Christ.” God has called us to seek and save the lost. We are told in Acts 4:17, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” God has given us the privilege to share with Him in proclaiming the Good News! We are excited to making a difference in this community and in the world for our Lord. So let us role up our sleeves and get to work!
